Katie Parcelli
Guitar
Katie Parcelli is a native of Leesburg, VA and has been playing guitar for 14 years. She is an alumnus of CSM, having studied with Wayne Estes and Patrick Fritz during her middle school and high school years. Katie earned her Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance, with a concentration in Pedagogy, from the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. During her time at Vanderbilt, she studied with John Johns, Joseph Rae Phillips, Dr. Richard Todd, and Dr. Stanley Yates. In May 2022, she graduated from George Mason University with her Graduate Certificate in PK-12 Music Education and holds a valid VA teaching license in PK-12 Music Education.
While she was a student at Vanderbilt, Katie began teaching private lessons at W.O. Smith Music School in Nashville, TN, which solidified her love of teaching. After graduating in 2018, Katie went on to teach private lessons in Northern VA for three years at Bach to Rock South Riding and Shamrock Music Shoppe, as well as building and maintaining her own private studio. Since 2021, she has worked at Frederick Douglass Elementary School teaching General Music.
Katie has performed in master classes for Benjamin Verdery, Judicaël Perroy, Gaëlle Solal, Rene Izquierdo, SoloDuo (Matteo Mela and Lorenzo Micheli), Marc Teicholz, Andrew Zohn, Dieter Hennings, and Michael Cedric Smith. In 2016 and 2017, she attended the Eastern Music Festival in NC where she studied with Jason Vieaux, Julian Gray, and Kami Rowan.
In 2019 and 2022, Katie was a member of the United States Guitar Orchestra (USGO). The USGO performed at Carnegie Hall in 2019, followed by a tour of France with featured soloist William Kanengiser, one of the founding members of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. In 2022, the USGO performed at Merkin Hall, followed by a tour of Spain, featuring soloist Xavier Jara, the 2016 winner of the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition.
When Katie is not teaching or playing guitar, she enjoys spending time with her beagle Ringo, reading, baking, hiking, and drawing.
