Eugene Liu
Violin
Eugene Liu is an orchestral violinist from Maryland. He holds a Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music, studying with Isaac Malkin, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Maryland, studying with David Salness.
His violin journey began at the age of eight, with middle school orchestra class being his first experience in a large ensemble. He has since served as concertmaster and principal second violin with various ensembles.
Throughout his undergraduate years at the University of Maryland, Eugene performed with the Annapolis and Fairfax Symphonies; following his move to New York City for graduate studies, he joined the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony. His summer engagements have included the National Orchestral Institute and National Repertory Orchestra. These experiences have allowed him to work with top music directors and learn a large amount of repertoire.
In addition to performing, Eugene is dedicated to teaching the violin and music theory. He has taught young, beginner violinists as well as college-aged students, and has worked in both music school settings and privately. Eugene’s hope is to bring the best out of his students musically and beyond, so that they may be creative, disciplined and confident.
